Slovakia - with a little help from my friend

My backpacking tour in the high Tatras was set up by Maria, a friend of mine- and now she has her own tour company: https://hikeslovakia.com. All I needed to do was to show up at the right date, cover the distances of each day - and enjoy the scenery. She had ordered sleeping bag accommodation and dinner as well in the mountain huts I stayed in.

Slovakia - or rather the high Tatras had been on my menu for some time when I got the chance to go. The mountains exceeded my expectations: they really were just the way I wanted. Well marked and clear GR trails, narrow passes or saddles in the sharp rising mountains between deep valleys. Chains and iron steps bolted into the massive vertical rock, where such is needed. The weather was splendid - except the day when Gerlachovský Stit was on the way. Then it was overcast and light drizzles and no point in scrambling up there in a cloud. The only negative thing was, that as I was on my way to Ukraine, I needed to carry my tent, mattress and cooking gear. Which meant, that the total weight I carried was close to 15 kg. But - if it does not kill you, it will make you stronger. And sweating is supposes to be good - up to a certain level.
